For Alexia Cross and Justin McNear, things are not what they seem. Both were born and raised in hidden, gated communities. A place where time virtually stands still and marriages are arranged by parents before a child’s 18th birthday.
Alexia is destined to be her community’s first spinster as her 18th birthday approaches. In a last ditch effort, a husband is found. The only complication? He has no idea he has been betrothed. Will his history of dating outsiders help or hinder his relationship with his future wife?
Justin McNear searched outside his church for the woman of his dreams. Returning home after failing, he knows he needs to rectify his life and his faith. Can a woman he’s never met make him whole again?
Will this couple end up mocked by their own faith? Follow Alexia and Justin through the trials and tribulations of finding, falling, and surviving each other’s love. It’s never easy saying “I do” to someone you don’t know.
Michele Richard lives in a suburb of Boston, Mass. She’s the mother of two pre-teen daughters and the wife.
Michele Richard has created the Mocked series. From Mocked by Destiny to the trilogy Mocked by Faith, she writes what comes from the heart. A wife and the mother of two preteen girls, she spends her days spinning tales about what happens when what you believe in mocks your every turn.
When she’s not writing, her days are filled with her family, her bunny Geneva, and friends. Her greatest passions are learning new languages and traveling. She currently resides in the Northeastern part of the United States however; her family members live down the east coast as far as North Carolina.
She’s currently learning French and Spanish, and one day hopes to be fluent in both. Learning new things is always something she enjoys.
Please Welcome Michele Richard!
So I wanted to take a moment to discuss my series “Mocked by . . .”
This series is a slightly different from most series out there. Each title is about different couples and different challenges unique to their situation. The characters in Mocked by Destiny are a young teen couple who are dealing with an unexpected teen pregnancy, which is a far cry from the gated community of faithful arranged marriage of Mocked by Faith, or the finding love after losing everything in Mocked by Fate. As to whether there will be more books is yet to be decided. I guess I’ll know when the ideas stop coming, but with all the diverse people in the world the possibilities are endless.
The idea behind the series was a simple one: Everyone is different and reacts to their circumstances in unique ways.
Mocked by Destiny was the first to be released and it is a raw and realistic look at what happens your teen hormones rule your life. I de-glorified the common hype that the teens see now in all the reality shows. This couple had to live through the struggles that come with being teen parents.
It’s a story of love, sacrifice, and growing up before its time.
Mocked by Faith is the largest of all the series. It in itself has three books. I had originally planned on doing just one book, but as the story progressed and took on a life of its own I couldn’t do it. It’s often thought to be about faith, but it’s really about a couple who belongs to a faith that believes in arranged marriages. So it’s not really a faith book but those who like faith books will enjoy it. I knew when I started writing it that it’s either a love it or hate it book. There is no real middle ground. (This story is not a Young Adult book it’s more suitable for 18+)
I have been asked repeatedly where the idea came from, but no one asks if it really happens to Americans in the United States. So I am going to answer it anyway. YES. I’ve researched it and it does still happen here. And, like in the book it is not openly known.
Book one: Mocked by Faith ~ It’s never easy saying “I do” to someone you don’t know.
Book two: Mocked by Faith ~ Healing the Faith ~ Saying “I do” was only the beginning. (due out in October 2nd, 2012)
Book three: Mocked by Faith ~ Affirming the Faith (due out in January 8th, 2013)
Mocked by Fate will be a story of rebuilding after a family loses everything. It’s still in its earliest stages, but I can tell you this new teen couple will deal with being bullied, finding each other again, and learning to fight for the right things. I don’t have the release date on this one yet. (TBD)
The end of all we knew is just the beginning.
